Amazing People in Dumfries, Scotland are
Happy to Help
Slum Dwellers in Bangkok, Thailand!
hospitality industry has been facing for so long during the pandemic?
They have sent a donation of £70-00 to help the desperately needy families served by the Gift of Happiness Foundation in Bangkok, Thailand.
This is enough money to feed 20 families for around 7 days during the current severe lockdown situation in Bangkok!
Eddie wrote a message to leaders of some people living in poverty around the unseen slums and deprived areas of Bangkok. Quote; |
Why did they give some happiness?
Eddie left Scotland many years ago and has lived in the far east, mainly in Bangkok since 1999. He returned to Scotland to visit his granddaughter in March 2020. He is still running the charity remotely from his small apartment near the River Nith in the delightful town that he refers to as Funfries.
Eddie was in his local pub, Douglas Arms chatting with the proprietor, Les Ross about how lovely her craft beers are. Then it suddenly occurred to him that he had been given some spirits as a welcoming gift when he arrived in Funfries. As he no longer drinks any kind of spirits, he thought to offer the strong stuff to Les as a gesture of thanks for providing him with a few pints of his favourite low alcohol beer known as Hazy Bones. |
Then, it was very quickly agreed that the value of the spirits could and should be turned into cash to buy food for the Slum dwellers who are unable to earn their regular $1.00-a-day wage during the Bangkok lockdown period. That's when Les Ross offered to make a donation of far more than the value of the sprits to Eddie's happy charity. Les and Lewis both know that this will help Eddie and his team in Thailand to feed some of the people who have come to rely on his organisation. |
Despite the Pandemic restrictions, the amazing staff at the
Go-Happiness Centre in Bangkok have continued to hand out even more new clothing, shoes, toys and educational supplies to some of the children living in the slums of Bangkok.
