Please read to the end to find Eddie's important request...
Thanks to all those who attended the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Sukhothai Hotel and at a similar event held at The Residence of the Ambassador of Belgium in Bangkok... The children pictured above and many more who are served by the Gift of Happiness Foundation will have a great Christmas this year, 2020. |
Gift of Happiness Foundation...
01/12/2020.
Now, in the lead up to Christmas 2020, I am minded to offer our followers a brief round-up of the last few months and to say thank you to those who have helped us survive the COVID crisis so far...
Go-Happiness Founder on Family Visit to the UK...
In March 2020, I went along with a pre-planned and a long-awaited visit to see my family and friends in the UK for the first time in almost 20 years...
The plan was for me to return and continue running the charity as normal in June 2020... but I arrived in Scotland exactly one day after the big lockdown started and many return flights were being postponed or cancelled. Within a couple of weeks of my arrival in Scotland it became clear that I would not be able to return to Bangkok... or for that matter even visit any of my family in England and initially, even seeing my Granddaughter who lives in the town of Dumfries where I pre-planned to base myself for the short UK visit. |
Some quick thinking was done and I held a few long online meetings with the Go-Happiness office assistant, Khun Karn, where we discussed ways of making sure that the charity could continue supporting the average of 2,000 people in need every month with essential items of clothing, food aid and much more. Khun Karn truly came up trumps and started to organise aid giving projects aimed at supporting slum dwellers in and around Bangkok which was then the only place she could travel because of the restrictions. | Part of several tons of food aid given to Bangkok Slum dwellers by the Gift of Happiness Foundation during Lockdown in Thailand. |
HERE IS WHAT THEY NEED
The COVID 19 Effect?
Between March and November 2020, the charity has suffered some major financial losses with cash donations via Credit card and Paypal donations at an all-time low.
So I had to sell my personal truck and with the proceeds from that sale and the ongoing support from Monroe Consulting Group the charity is still able to give truckloads of essentials to many thousands of needy people in Thailand.
And, of course, I wish to personally thank all the people who have been and remain so generous when it comes to giving goods. please keep up the good work because, believe me, the needy people we serve in Thailand really do appreciate everything you give!
I especially want to say a BIG THANK YOU to Monroe Consulting Group for their amazing continuous support and the few remaining regular donors of cash via the donation gateways and bank transfers within this website.
I realise that times are tough for many people worldwide, but it is generally tougher for those deserving people we continue to serve, many of whom are stateless individuals, with children who have no home comforts, perhaps working on a rubbish dump trying to eke out a living by selling plastic for recycling and having no foreseeable future in life. We will issue proper receipts for donations of money or goods. Any donation you can give will be gratefully received and put to good use. |
I am committed as ever to continue the work to help others and we will soon have 2 experienced volunteers to help further promote the charity with the business community here in Thailand and elsewhere.
We would extend a warm welcome to others who would like to help the needy in Thailand and I would like to sincerely thank all supporters of the Gift of Happiness who have helped achieve its goals in the past and hope that we can count on you in the future too.
Every Baht, Dollar, GBP, Euro or any other currency helps!
Please Do Not Send Festive Cards?
I have started to receive festive greetings cards at the Go-Happiness office in Bangkok and at my address in Scotland.
Now I urge people to give the price of a card and postage to my charity which has suffered immensely from the effects of the pandemic.
"Believe me, the people I serve will truly appreciate whatever festive gift you give them!"
GIVE HAPPINESS FROM ANYWHERE ON PLANET EARTH...
Support already given is very much appreciated, but we are still in great need of small, donations from anyone who can afford to help people in need, in Thailand.
