07 to 11 August 2011.
Gift of happiness Foundation carried-out a five day tour of migrant schools, Mae Tao clinic, a women's refuge and men' health center in and around the city of Mae Sot in northern Thailand.
There were eight volunteers including three performers plus helpers and drivers traveling in two donated trucks and one donated mini-van. We visited eight locations in the region and gave large quantities of clothing, toys, bedding, food, medical supplies and ton's of laughter. We were also happy to hand-out more than 2,000 yummy candies that were donated by the Jelly Belly Candy Company..."Thank you Jelly Belly!"
We were delighted to have two new performers, in the shape of "Clown Frank" from Germany and his wife "Aum" the dancer from Thailand. They performed their cleverly rehearsed clown and dancer shows at every location on the tour and their audiences loved the crazy antics shown through comical stories told in the language of mime, English and Thai.
Clown Eckie from Bangkok was making a fool of himself in the usual silly way, with his giant balloons and falling down a lot in an effort to bring even more happiness to the children.
Thanks also to our drivers from Bangkok, Khun Amarin Nisasoka and Khun Bob Dobs who transported the goods and volunteers safely throughout the whole tour in the vehicles donated by Jirakorn products and Khun Sakon of Bangkok. Eddie Haworth donated and drove his own truck as usual and was careful not to clown around so much while behind the wheel.
Funding for the tour was provided by volunteers who accompanied us and individual donations came from friends of GOHF.
