Gift of Happiness Foundation appeal for clothing – September 2012.
Children at AGAPE Orphanage and One Dream One World Street Kids shelter in Mae Sot are ages from 3 to 15yrs are always desperately in need of decent clothing, underwear and basic toiletries for them. We appeal for help to gather at least 350 packs containing these essential items before we re-visit those children during the week of 15th October 2012.Many of the children at those places are smaller than Western children of the same age, so please consider giving mostly small or medium children’s sizes. As a rule-of-thumb...We suggest that medium children’s sizes are suitable for most of the children. The little ones will grow into those sizes and the older ones will soon be wearing teenage sizes.
Just to give an idea of the size of the children compared to the clown at this migrant school show in Mae Sot. The girl holding the red balloon is about 11 or 12 years old and will fit into Western sizes meant for a 10yr old. The smaller children near the trumpet are about 7 or 8 yrs old, so need Western 5 or 6yr old sizes.
Here’s what we need...
150 packs for boys & 150 packs for girls aged 3 to 12 yrs - Each pack containing used or new clothing...
Teen Boys - One set small teenage size - trousers/shorts, T-shirt, regular shirt, new underwear and Pajamas.
Teen Girls - Small teenage size – Knee length skirt, mid-thigh length spandex tights or leggings, new underwear, two packs sanitary towels.
Two sets - Soap, toothbrush, toothpaste and large hand towels.
Regular Ibuprofen, Band-Aids, Tylenol, Cough Drops.
Two rain hats or ponchos.
The goods should be packed in 3 separate clear zip-lock type bags – one boys clothing - one girls clothing - one toiletries etc. All three bags should be taped together ready for transporting.
