Gift of Happiness Foundation at Wat Samakan primary school and temple near Ayutthaya in Thailand.
The show was dedicated to the memory of Mr. Jason O'Brien who recently passed away following a long illness aged only 44 years. He leaves his wife, six children, mother and some dear friends in the UK and Bangkok. -- Our Director, Eddie Haworth has been honoured to know Jason since he was a young lad in the days when Eddie lived in Inverness, Scotland, early 1980's. At that time, Jason's mother became and remains a dear friend to Eddie. Since learning of his death and being unable to attend the funeral in the UK. Eddie decided to pay his respects by giving some more happiness to all the Wat Samakan children and by asking them to join him in a few moments of reflection and farewell after the big show.
The children, teachers, some University students and Gift of Happiness crew all stood quietly in thought just after the show at the school. Then followed-up with the Buddhist Monks blessing, chanting and meditation inside the nearby (Temple) Wat Samakan.
After the service Eddie was filmed and interviewed by some senior students from the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, School of Communication and Arts. The interview was about the Gift of Happiness Foundation, it will be submitted as part of their course work and may also appear on TV.
Another short stop for further reflection and prayers.
"Khun Amarin is our long-term volunteer driver, translator and good friend. He's also an ex-pupil at Wat Samakan school".
On our way back to Bangkok, we stopped-off at the shrine of Amarin's father which is located just a few kilometres from the school. When we arrived, we found that no one had a lighter for the incense sticks, so Eddie (AKA Clown Eckie) stepped-in with his well loved fire wallet and managed to light the sticks so that Amarin could properly pay his respects to his father.
Our next aid giving project tour to Mae Sot, N Thailand will be from 19.th to 23.rd August 2013.
(Here's what we did earlier this month in Mae Sot)
We plan to visit two or three migrant schools per day. -- Donations of toys, educational equipment, school uniforms, medical supplies and money are needed for this important project.
If you need any further information about how best to help the children that we regularly serve in Mae Sot and other parts of Thailand.
Any Questions?
Donate to our projects with confidence knowing that every penny will be spent on helping these poor people in Thailand.
Thank you.
