The Founder of the Gift of Happiness Foundation, Eddie Haworth FRSA also provided food and cooked for all 120 children, their teachers and quite a few mums and grannies who all turned out on this very special day...

GoHF, Founder, Eddie Haworth FRSA decided to offer the children of this Ethnic Mon community school, 'Thai Wisdom-Mon Learning Center' a traditional European Christmas Day lunch and present giving project. The reason was, simply because the children in this community are often faced with seeing more affluent children celebrating Christmas and receiving gifts-a-plenty, while they get nothing. This clearly makes them feel like outcasts in the area they call home. Eddie knows what it's like to be a child who feels like he's been ostracised, so helping these people is a very important thing for him to do every Christmas-time and throughout the rest of the year... Here's a little information about the Mon Community in this region... "Quote; UNBM-Samut Sakhon" * Samut Sakhon Province in Thailand is among the largest seafood processing industrial areas in the Entire country. It is also among the top four coastal provinces in Thailand in attracting migrant workers, primarily from Myanmar (Burma). Samut Sakhon has a resident population of approximately 450,000. An additional 250,000 or more workers are Thai migrants, principally from northeastern Thailand, and another 160,000 to 200,000 are foreign migrants. The majority of migrant workers and their families are from Burma, of whom it is estimated that 50% are of Mon ethnicity, 30% Burman, 10% Karen and 10% others. |
Here's a snapshot of some HAPPINESS giving on Christmas Day 2019...
This year the Charity (GoHF) received even more wonderful gifts than last 2018 from five International Schools in Bangkok and even a small Primary School in England. Plus there have been countless individual donations of goods including around 30 hand knitted soft toys from a dear friend of the Charity, 80-year-old Mr Sally Voravan. Volunteers from Scotland, Denmark, Germany and of course, Thailand all came together on the biggest day of the year to make sure the children had their very first-ever European traditional Christmas Day experience courtesy of the Gift of Happiness Foundation and it’s sponsors. Sponsors of goods and money include... Monroe Consulting Group - Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) - British Ambassador to Thailand family - Boaz Zippor Arts - The Sukhothai Bangkok - St Andrews International School 107 - St Stephen's International School - Wells International School - Batheaston Church School, Batheaston, England - Charter International School - D-PREP International School |
A massive "THANK YOU" to all the schoolchildren from five International Schools in Bangkok and one Primary School in England who contributed so very much to this years
Christmas Happiness Giving to Children in Need!
The schools all gave so much that we could only give half of the donations at this school. We will be giving the other half in February 2020 when we visit another 6 rural schools in northern Thailand...
Their teachers and a few of the children's grannies had arranged for the children to play games for most of the day while the Go Happiness teams set-up the Christmas trees, presents and set the long tables. While all that was happening, Eddie and his trusty Christmas elves helped cook a massive pot of chicken carbonara for everyone to enjoy later...
BUT WE MUST NOT FORGET! Most of the set-up of trees, presents, tables and clothing handouts was organised by the NUMBER ONE Go Happiness volunteer, Mr Nicol Burr and his wife, Khun Ning...with their daughter and friend helping Eddie do the cooking... Other great volunteers who took time out on Christmas day 2019, were; Mr Alex Heimdal Petersen, his wife and a team of four staff from his company, Bangkok mould consultant, Co. From the The Sukhothai Bangkok Khun Chutima Limpasurat, Khun Jirayu Dissayabutr, and Ms Yuka Chen. From Berlin, Germany...A regular sponsor and dedicated follower of the Gift of happiness foundation, Mr Jan Hansen. |

Quick facts about funding for the Gift of Happiness Foundation...
In 2005, our Founder, Mr Eddie Haworth FRSA (Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts) provided more than 500,000-THB ($15,964-USD) as required in legal fees and Government registration fees to set-up the Thai registered charity, Gift of Happiness Foundation. Eddie also provided the main 4x4 off-road capable vehicle needed for the charity to bring essential goods to remote parts of Thailand. He still covers repayments and maintenance costs for the latest 4x4 vehicle, purchased in 2018 at a cost of ฿1.2 million-THB ($38,300-USD). The money for all this came and still comes from Eddie's earnings as a professional Entertainer and since 2018, from Eddie's British state pension.
Eddie is a Volunteer at the Gift of happiness Foundation and he has never received a salary. He is not allowed access to the Charity Bank Account which is governed by the Gift of Happiness Foundation's, all Thai Citizens Board of Trustees.
