Transport problems now solved!
Thanks to a few donations of cash, we are now able to fund the hiring of a driver and minivan to help us deliver our volunteers and tons more goods for the children in Mae Sot on 14 to 18 January, 2013.
This five day trip to Mae Sot will include visits to Mae Tao Clinic, a center for people with HIV/AIDS, One Dream One World shelter for street kids, Best Friend Migrant School, Nam Tok (Water Fall Migrant School). Also we will visit two more Migrant schools (names yet to be translated?) and Sky Blue school for kids who live on the garbage dump.
We will also visit a small community of around 50 families that has recently been devastated by fire. We have some essential clothing and blankets to give them.
All these people are living in very poor or desperately poor situations and volunteers assisting on this project must be prepared to experience some sights that may be upsetting. As usual, we will be using the Director’s own truck to transport donations and volunteers on this trip. We are organising a second vehicle and driver, by loan or hire. We have no special budget for any part of this project and we are totally reliant on donations from anyone who can help cover our fuel and other costs incurred during this important mission. We will spend the first day loading two vehicles with donations and show equipment for the Clown Shows to be given at most locations. Then we will drive the six/seven hour journey to Mae Sot and book into the Poonnagunn Hotel where we will spend four nights before check-out and return to Bangkok on Friday 18th January.
