The Charity served the children teachers and parents with clothing, bedding, educational supplies and toys...
Plus, all the children received 2 sets of highly valued brand new underwear each!
The villages schools we visited each day from Monday 17th to 20th of February 2020 are located around 40 kilometers north of Udon Thani, N.E Thailand.
Schools:
1. Baan Ning Khong Na Si school - 2. Baan None Tha Na school. - 3. Baan Lao Tam Take school. - 4. Baan Lam Pu.
“I have just had the privilege to be part of one of Eddie’s amazing Gift of Happiness tours.
This one was to Udon Thani, it was quite a trip, and a wonderful experience, turning up at very rural schools with a van load of supplies - books, toys, clothing, and, of course, a show for all the children to enjoy.
The look on their faces during the show and after when receiving sets of new underwear was something I will never forget. It was a MAGICAL trip.
Thanks Eddie, for asking me to be part of it.”

Are we gluttons for punishment we ask? Well this was our fourth trip with the Gift of Happiness foundation and we keep coming back for more. It is a testament to the enduring quality of Clown Eckie's performance that we still find ourselves laughing along with the hundreds of school children enjoying the shows, getting enormous pleasure from seeing them experience the joy for the first time.
Each trip has taken us to a new region of Thailand and this time we were in Udon Thani province way up in the NE corner of the country close to the Laos border. All four schools we visited lay to the west of the town. Each had it's own character and each clearly needed their share of the massive truckload of clothes, books, toys and other donations that we brought on the nearly 8 hour journey from Bangkok.
Again this year we had the pleasure of travelling with Ian Thom (AKA Gingernut The Clown), who's show once again thrilled the kids. We always love to see the look of genuine shock and surprise on the faces of the audience as he lands a giant fish out of a seemingly impossibly small carrier bag. And this year we were also joined for the first time by Ian's friend from London, Mattie, who added added brilliantly to the warm up acts.
The whole thing was held together by the hard graft of Bangkok resident Nic, setting up and packing down every show and driving the Gift of Happiness truck in the absence of Eddie's regular Thai driver who was still recovering from a broken foot. A real trooper and a huge asset to the team. Together the 6 of us managed to bring a huge amount of happiness, smiles and donations to a couple of hundred or so of Thailand's poorest.
We did also find time in the evening to sample some of northern Thailand's famed hotpot culture as well. Often tripling the age of the clientele we really enjoyed the al fresco, diy dining on offer at unbelievably low prices. Another great week then. Should we come back for more still? Only time will tell but in the meantime please support the charity as it continues its great work helping those most in need.
