Pictures of the wonderful ladies who make Christmas Crackers all year round to raise money for worthy causes.
They gave us a cheque for more than enough to cover the cost of helping impoverished parents visit their injured children following a serious road crash in March 2013.
MUST READ...
This is Ngwe Hlaing 10 years old. | This is Si Thu Aung 12 years old. He is still in the general hospital in Mae Sot receiving treatment and possible amputation of his lower left leg. |
Unfortunately, there is one twelve year old boy who is still in hospital and being considered for having his lower left leg amputated, so likely to remain there for another week or so. And there is one girl who’s suffered serious wounds requiring skin grafts and amputation of four toes on one foot.
We have already helped survivors of the accident when we visited the school and hospital on 26th March. We gave them all lots of new and used clothing, toys, toiletries and other useful goods to comfort them a little after such a great trauma.
We appealed for help to transport the parents from Bangkok to Mae Sot.
We agreed to pay for the parents of both these children to visit them during the Songkran holiday. The parents are living and working near Bangkok on separate work sites and they are only able to leave work during this holiday period, or they will lose their jobs. They earn so little that they can't imagine paying their own way to visit their injured children.
The cost for transport, travel documents for alien workers, accommodation and local travel in and around Mae Sot, is 7,500THB per family. Therefore we appealed for 15,000THB to cover all costs.
The Cracker Ladies from the British Women's Club, Bangkok and another friend of the Gift of Happiness Foundation came up with more than enough to pay all the costs and we have now made arrangements to pay all the bills and get those parents up-to Mae Sot on the 11th April.
Thank You!
These older students are also committed to helping us to sort and pack much more of the great donations of toys, clothing, educational equipment, medical supplies and all manner of other useful goods.
We are very pleased to receive this valuable help from the students and look forward to a long lasting partnership.

Our aim is to help some of the people who are often overlooked by some of the large NGO's and non-registered or non-accountable groups that exist in this country. If you need any further information about how best to help the children that we regularly serve in Mae Sot and other parts of Thailand... Any Questions?
