Let the pictures tell the story...
Please take a few moments to think about how you can help Nongham by sending
just the price of a bag of dog food every month?
In May 2019; The Gift of Happiness Foundation leader, Eddie Haworth launched an appeal for ongoing support to help provide Nongham with a dedicated carer who can feed her a nutritious diet and make sure she gets regular physiotherapy to build her strength enough for her to at least sit upright in a wheelchair. Also in May 2019; Nongham had a full medical check-up at the Camillian Hospital in Bangkok and she was immediately offered a place as a daycare outpatient in the Camillian Home for Disabled children handicapped children, close to where Nongham lives. Unfortunately, the home later decided they were unable to take Nongham due to staff shortages and lack of daily transportation. But they did offer to take Nongham once-a-week to provide her with physiotherapy and nourishing food, plus some training to help her family members understand exactly what kind of food and other daily needs they should try to provide to help build her strength. |
Since Nongham started those weekly visits in July 2019, she has gained a little weight and is responding more to her mother and carers, sometimes with a slight smile of approval when they are feeding her. Support already given is very much appreciated, but we are still in great need of small, yet regula monthly donations from anyone who can afford to make such commitments and maintain their support for at least one year at a time. A couple of Eddie's friends already send two monthly credit card donations and another friend of the Charity often sends diapers and toiletries to Eddie, who then takes everything directly to Nongham and her mum. |
(Quote the Doctor at Camillian hospital; There's no point in builder up her strength if it can't be maintained once she goes back home?)
In 2005, our Founder, Mr Eddie Haworth (Clown Eckie Corporation) provided more than 500,000-THB ($15,964-USD) as required in legal fees and Government registration fees to set-up the Thai registered charity, Gift of Happiness Foundation. Eddie also provided the main 4x4 off-road capable vehicle needed for the charity to bring essential goods to remote parts of Thailand. He still covers repayments and maintenance costs for the latest 4x4 vehicle, purchased in 2018 at a cost of ฿1.2 million-THB ($38,300-USD). The money for all this came and still comes from Eddie's earnings as a professional Entertainer and since 2018, from Eddie's British state pension.
Eddie is a Volunteer at the Gift of happiness Foundation and he has never received a salary. He is not allowed access to the Charity Bank Account which is governed by the Gift of Happiness Foundation's, all Thai Citizens Board of Trustees.
This is where our 100% pledge comes in.
