Are you brave enough for the 'Unbelievable Great Experience!'
The basic premise is that children will be able to participate in a unique experience, once enough has been raised. Schools will often run this type of fundraiser by promising that the principle or a teacher will shave his head, or wear a chicken costume for a day, or run twenty laps around the school singing show tunes, but only if the kids raise enough to buy good number of uniforms. Children can raise the desired amount by doing all manner of activities shown in this section (Great Fundraising Ideas)
Who will shave their head? Let the children throw cream pies at them? Eat bugs? Or something equally silly?
You should design an event around the experience, and have the children sell tickets. Tell the guests, we’re having a 'Funding for Uniforms Fun Day'. Then make it a special day when all the parents and children can be there and even have a Gift of Happiness Clown to join in the fun! You can sell tickets and tell your volunteers and donors, “We’re having a barbecue or fun day fundraiser event on the best date of your choice.
Apart from raising enough to buy lots of uniforms or help Gift of Happiness in other ways, this kind of activity shows that you and the children have done something incredibly positive to help some of the neediest children in Thailand, which is always great publicity for your school.
You can make an agreement that...If each child sells at least 4 tickets, "I’ll wear a chicken costume to the event and let the child/team who makes the most sales throw eggs at me.” (Or something equally silly).
We need to sell 500 tickets (Or More) to raise enough to buy the minimum order required for our specially negotiated price per uniform. 500 school uniforms for needy kids in Thailand. Tickets should be sold at ฿-100-00 each, anything over the 500 uniforms will be added to our stock ready to deliver later.
Will your boss, president or headteacher shave their head? Let her kids throw cream pies in her face? Eat bugs? Be creative…
Then, design a free or cheap event around the experience, and If each of you sells at least 3 tickets for a total of 300 attendees, I’ll wear a chicken costume to the event and let the entire board through eggs at me.” (Or something equally silly).
Education Drive
Plan an education drive with the kids. Give them pamphlets, leaflets, and other material which has information on the Gift of Happiness Foundation. Get in touch with the various mall managers in your area and take permission from them to let the kids talk to their customers. Teach the children how to give a short, interesting one-minute speech on what to tell the customers to invite donations from them. Likewise, make groups of around ten kids and an adult, and visit various departmental stores in your area to ask for donations.
You can charge the kids registration fees to raise money. Such an event will give the Gift of Happiness some free publicity, thus inciting more donations from onlookers.
'Special Day'
Organize a special day with the kids, such as a 'car wash' day or an 'art and crafts' day. They can put up a stall for car washing and raise money for charity by washing cars of teachers and school visitors. Another idea is to have an art and crafts day, wherein, kids make various items like beaded bracelets, paper bags, etc., and later money can be raised by selling them.
Talent Contest
Another interesting idea is to organize a talent show. You can keep dance, singing, and dramatics competitions in this show. Money is raised by selling tickets to children, parents, as well as other audience.
