Fun fundraising tips for anyone wishing to enjoy the experience of helping needy children in Thailand.
These ideas can easily be used at schools or adapted for the workplace, social clubs, loyal societies, sports clubs, golf tournaments and any other group activities.
10 Fundraising ideas at school.
- No Uniform for Uniform Day. Children are allowed to spend one day per month wearing regular clothes in return for a donation of the cost of one uniform for our needy children. Money raised in this way can be given at end of term and we can have the new uniforms ready to hand out by start of the next term.
- Change Coins for Uniforms. Children can easily design a funny collection box that they make themselves and place in their classroom room. Then there can be a competition between classes to see who collects the mos amount by the end of term. At the end of term all the coins are counted and placed into new pairs of socks holding enough to buy one uniform per sock. That way our needy children get a new uniform and a few pairs of socks into the bargain!
- Run for a Uniform. Plan a 'run for a uniform' event where the children can ask all family members to sponsor them to run (or walk) around the school play/sports ground enough times to raise money for (5 to 10 or more) uniforms.
- 50/50 Raffle for Uniforms & Your School. This is a great idea for a special day like 'Fun/sports day or new teacher etc' and it provides your school with something the children want for their class as well as uniforms for our needy children! - You need some double row raffle tickets with matching numbers on each side. Think of an effective way to sell the tickets to parents and children at whatever price makes sense to you on the big day. (The goal is to give people an incentive to buy more). When a person buys a set of tickets, rip the row in half, keeping the duplicate half for the drawing bucket. When finished selling tickets, add up the total money then divide into 50/50 for uniforms and whatever the children decided to buy for their class.
- It’s a Bust. Then every child in a whole class at your school has to buy 8 balloons at ฿-50-00 each (which equals the price of one uniform). Teachers then insert numbers in each balloon, secretly making sure that one number corresponds to a raffle ticket given to each child. The child then has to pop all 8 balloons to reveal a matching number and receive their prize (Everyone's a winner!) - "Go-Happiness provides hand made prizes made by children who receive uniforms".
- 4 Minute Watermelon. A fun and sloppy activity appealing to many ages (and healthy, too). Watermelons provide the perfect texture and messiness that makes an eating contest fast and fun! Family members can sponsor the cost of one or more uniforms for each child to eat their way through a whole watermelon in less than 4 minutes (฿-100-00 per minute)
- Skip a Meal and save for uniforms. A whole class or year group commits to giving up a meal together and give the money saved to Go-Happiness for us to save for uniforms.
- Give-Up the phone. Schoolchildren can ask family members to sponsor them to give up using their mobile devices/tablets or any other a regular electronic communication activity for 24 hours and donate the money they raise to buy uniforms. The children can warn all their contacts and even ask for more sponsors in advance of the big turn-off day. Devices can be left and kept in the school safe at end of school day and given back to the children before they go home next day.
- Sports saving for uniforms . "Must be done wearing a uniform" - Schoolchildren can ask family members to sponsor them to take part in any of the usual Egg & Spoon, Sprinting, Long distance, Swimming or other sporting events while they wear a full school uniform.
- X Marks the Spot. Children pay for 8 golf, tennis or ping pong balls and send them all down a hill with the “tosser” blindfolded. The 3 that get closest to the center of a taped “X” below win a Certificate of Appreciation and their picture published on the Go-Happiness website.

5 Fundraising ideas that even one person can do.
- Birthday, Anniversary or Christmas Pledge. Simply Ask for donations of the amount for one or more uniforms instead of receiving unwanted/needed presents. You can show this to the people who donated and make them feel good about giving as well.
- Pennies for Uniforms. Save small coins and loose change or small denominational bank notes that you have lying around. Then count them up once-a-month and round-off the amount when you think there's enough to buy a dozen or more uniforms. Or you can simply bank the coins and send the amount on-line stating that you want the money to be spent only on uniforms. INFO HERE
