| Supporting the Stray Dog (Mahalong) Community with Kindness and Compassion... The Stray Dog Community, also known as the Mahalong Community, is an informal settlement nestled among residential neighbourhoods and small local businesses along Phueng Mee Alley (Sukhumvit Rd). Within this modest area sits a small waste‑collection point, and around it, a close‑knit community of roughly 30 households that have called this place home for more than three decades. Families here span all generations: young children, working adults, and elderly residents who have watched the neighbourhood grow and change over the years. Much of the community’s day‑to‑day organisation is supported by long‑time resident Mr Thong, who serves as the local coordinator and a steady source of guidance. | ชุมชนหมาหลง (Stray-Dog Community/Mahalong Community) ชุมชนหมาหลงเป็นชุมชนแออัด ตั้งอยู่ท่ามกลางพื้นที่อยู่อาศัยและสถานประกอบการโดยรอบ นอกจากนี้ยังมีชุมชนกองขยะขนาดเล็ก ตั้งอยู่บริเวณซอยพึ่งมี หรือซอยสุขุมวิท ปัจจุบันมีผู้อยู่อาศัยประมาณ 30 หลังคาเรือน ประกอบด้วยเด็กเล็ก ผู้ใหญ่ และผู้สูงอายุ โดยชาวบ้านได้อาศัยอยู่ในพื้นที่ดังกล่าวมาเป็นเวลากว่า 35 ปี ทั้งนี้มีนายทองเป็นผู้ประสานงานและดูแลชุมชน ที่มาของชื่อ “ชุมชนหมาหลง” ชาวบ้านในพื้นที่เล่าว่า เดิมมีสุนัขจรจัดซึ่งไม่มีบ้านและเจ้าของหลงเข้ามาอาศัยอยู่ในบริเวณชุมชน ชาวบ้านจึงร่วมกันช่วยเหลือ ดูแล และรับเลี้ยงสุนัขเหล่านั้นไว้ ส่งผลให้เกิดความผูกพันระหว่างคนกับสัตว์ และสะท้อนถึงคุณค่าทางสังคมด้านการแบ่งปัน ความเมตตา และการอยู่ร่วมกันของคนในชุมชน |

The name “Stray Dog Community” carries a story that reflects the heart of the people who live here. Years ago, stray dogs with no homes began wandering into the area. Instead of turning them away, residents chose to care for them, feeding them, protecting them, and welcoming them as part of the neighbourhood. This simple act of compassion became a defining symbol of the community’s values: kindness, sharing, and looking after one another.
