We’ve welcomed a remarkable young woman to the Gift of Happiness team: Miew, our newly appointed Project Manager. She brings not only a high standard of university education and fluent English, but also something far more rare, an intimate understanding of the lives of the people we serve.
Born and raised in one of Bangkok’s most impoverished slum communities, Miew was brought up by her single father, who once took her to see a performance by Clown Eckie (also known as Eddie Haworth FRSA), the founder of our charity. That moment planted a seed of joy that’s now blossomed into a full-circle story of resilience and purpose.
Despite being qualified for higher-paid commercial work, Miew has chosen to dedicate her talents to helping others. Her decision is a powerful testament to her character and a real-life “poor girl makes good” story that inspires us all.
