Eddie Haworth, founder of the Gift of Happiness Foundation, was busy sorting through donations in preparation for two major aid projects in early May when he noticed a little visitor outside the gate, an ankle-biter with a sheepish look, hovering hesitantly.
She seemed to know that the Buffoon Englishman was likely to have a few toys to spare, yet she kept her distance, unsure whether to approach. Fortunately, our office manager and two other kind-hearted ladies reassured her that the big-hearted old clown from Southport has been on a mission for donkeys years to help little-un's in need, so in no time, her hesitation melted away.
What more could she have wished for? A book to spark imagination, a musical instrument to bring joy, new clothes for comfort, and a delightfully silly squeaky duck, all given with warmth and happiness. A simple moment, yet one that captures the true spirit of giving.
